News / Ferry delays

SERCO NorthLink are warning passengers that its ferries are likely to be delayed on Thursday morning due to overnight gale force winds.

A spokesman for the company said that the Hjaltland, scheduled to leave Aberdeen at 7pm, might only arrive in Lerwick at 10am, three hours behind schedule.

The Hrossey, sailing south at 5.30pm from Lerwick, may either be delayed arriving at Kirkwall or be diverted directly to Aberdeen.

A delayed arrival into Kirkwall (Hatston Pier) could affect arrival time into Aberdeen on Thursday morning, the company said.

Meanwhile, the cargo boat Helliar will depart Aberdeen at 1pm on Wednesday sailing directly to Lerwick.
