News / Lerwick pensioner still missing
POLICE in Shetland have resumed the search for missing pensioner Alistair Wishart who has not been seen since Saturday evening.
Land based searches commenced again on Tuesday morning involving police officers, dog handlers and coastguard personnel.
The 74 year old was last seen on Saturday evening in Lerwick’s John Jamieson Close, and was reported missing on Sunday afternoon.
The Lerwick pensioner is described as 5’3’’, slim build with short grey/white hair, a beard and circular glasses.
When last seen he was wearing a navy jacket, navy jogging bottoms and navy slip-on canvas shoes.
Inspector Eddie Graham of Shetland police said on Tuesday: “I would like to reiterate my earlier appeal to all householders and property owners to search all outbuildings and vehicles.
“Due to Alistair’s vulnerable state and the poor weather we have been experiencing he may have found respite in a more obscure place such us under a vehicle, so it’s important to check everywhere and not just the obvious places.
“Again I would like to stress that due to Alistair’s age, vulnerability and the length of time he has been missing, it is vitally important that anyone with information come forward as soon as possible.”
Anyone with any information regarding Wishart’s whereabouts is asked to contact Lerwick police station on 101.
