News / Brain run

Shetland sisters (from left) Clare Inkster, Louise Fraser and Katherine Nisbet fly the flag for Shetland at the Nike+ half marathon.

THREE Shetland sisters raised more than £6,500 for the Brain Tumour Research charity by completing the ‘Run to the Beat powered by Nike+’ half marathon, in London, last Sunday.

Clare Inkster, Louise Fraser and Katherine Nisbet trained since April to tackle the 13.1 mile run.

Fraser, who had a brain tumour removed last year, said: “Our aim in doing this event was to raise awareness of how under-funded brain tumour research is and to provide the charity with some funds.

“To get an idea of how much money is needed, one day of research costs £2,740.”

The three sisters have been overwhelmed with the support, encouragement and good wishes they have received, and arre grateful to everyone who has supported them.

Donations can still be made via their Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/Clare-Louise-Katherine or by contacting louisefraser23@hotmail.com
