News / Serious assault suspect remanded in custody
A TWENTY year old man from Lerwick appeared in private and from custody before the town’s sheriff court on Monday charged with assaulting another man to his serious injury, permanent impairment and the danger of life.
Liam Scott Cromwell made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to re-appear in court next Tuesday.
Cromwell was arrested at the weekend following a serious assault in Lerwick’s town centre, which left a man critically ill in hospital.
In a second case, believed to be related to the more serious incident, a 19 year old man (name removed) was fined £400 after pleading guilty to a charge of threatening behaviour and engaging in fighting aggravated by religious prejudice.
