SHETLAND Coastguard was tasked to airlift a man in need of medical attention from the stand-by vessel Vos Guardian, operating near the Gryphon Alpha FSPO, 100 miles southeast of Lerwick.
The search and rescue helicopter departed its Sumburgh base at 1pm to fly the man to the Clickimin emergency landing site from where he was transferred to Lerwick’s Gilbert Bain Hospital.
Meanwhile, two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a two vehicle road accident near Voxter, north of Brae, on Monday afternoon.
And fire fighters were called out on Sunday evening to a Vauxhall Zafira on fire in St Olaf Street, in Lerwick. The vehicle was extensively damaged in the blaze.
