Letters / Warmest thanks
The Judicial Review (JR) of the Scottish Minister’s consent of the Viking windfarm resumed this week at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
Sustainable Shetland believes that the Scottish Minister’s acted unlawfully in granting consent for the windfarm without a Public Local Inquiry. After the case concludes the Judiciary will decide whether they were legally correct or not.
We have been able to pursue this case as Petitioner because of very generous financial support from hundreds of people; most of them living in Shetland.
This generosity, from people of all ages, has come in the form of pledges, donations, raffles, concerts, and afternoon teas.
Mention must be made of the hard work and time given so willingly by organisers and helpers at these events, all done on a voluntary basis.
It is humbling that so many people continue to care so much about Shetland and oppose all that is wrong with this project. All these good folk have our sincere and warmest thanks.
Regardless of the millions of pounds spent by the developers and the huge, and very costly, PR campaign they have employed to promote this project, the strength of opposition to the Viking wind farm is clearly undiminished.
