News / Referees course
SIX NEW football referees have passed written and practical exams this weekend and are ready to cover games across the isles.
The two-day course was organised by Steven Goodlad of the Shetland Referees Group and examined by Sandy Roy and George Ross of the Aberdeen & District referee group of the Scottish Football Association.
Goodlad said: “During a long weekend the six candidates covered the seventeen laws of the game and much more besides.
“The work now starts to get them ready for the coming season. These new referees will help cover games at all level of Shetland football.”
Roy added: “The examination results confirm the high standard of tuition provided by Steven Goodlad and I am delighted to welcome these six new referees into the membership.
“Hopefully, this is the start of a greater working relationship between the Shetland FA, the referees and the Scottish FA, North Region, with football in Shetland the ultimate winner.”
