AROUND 60 professionals from the voluntary sector will gather for Shetland’s first Adult Protection Conference at the Islesburgh Community Centre, on Monday.
They will be able to attend workshops which cover a range of topics including domestic abuse, financial abuse, safe use of the internet for vulnerable adults, the legislative framework around adults at risk and advocacy for adults.
Opening the conference, NHS Shetland chief executive Ralph Roberts will say: “There is a growing awareness nationally that that there are adults in our society who can be at risk of harm.
“I welcome the opportunity to be part of Shetland Adult Protection Committee’s first conference which will make a good contribution to raising awareness locally of this issue.”
