A YOUNG Lerwick man has been banned for a year and fined £625 after admitting driving while two and a half times the legal limit.

Appearing from custody before Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday, Ryan Galbraith, of 13 Da Vadill, also pleaded guilty to driving without a license and without insurance.

The offences took place at Da Vadill and North Road, in Lerwick, on Saturday, and were committed while the 19 year old was on bail.

Sheriff Philip Mann told the teenager that he could reduce the period of disqualification by three months should he successfully complete a drink driver’s rehabilitation course.
