Letters / Hopes for housing
Since becoming an elected member for Lerwick Community Council I have debated many times to free up the vast amount of SIC properties located in past residential buildings.
I am extremely satisfied with the SIC’s current response to finally see the following properties put on the market – 92 St Olaf St, 91-93 St Olaf Street; 64 St Olaf Street, Craigilea and St Clement’s Hall.
More shall follow this year so I’m told.
Although savings have to be met with the SIC I do hope that most of the buildings will be sold to housing property developers i.e. Hjaltland etc.
Times may be hard for housing companies too, but I feel these buildings can provide a roof once more for many tenants waiting patiently over the years.
In 2013 I hope to see new addresses in the directory for those people who really deserve it.
