News / Scottish Water distributes bottled water
A HANDFUL of households in Vidlin will have to experience a second night without running water following a number of outages in the north mainland of Shetland.
On Sunday, Scottish Water engineers were out all day trying to restore water supplies, while also supplying bottled drinking water to those households affected.
Tap pressure was lower than normal all day on Saturday resulting in just a trickle or no water at all later in the day.
The utility said that by Sunday night properties in the Brettabister area of South Nesting were “back in supply”, while some households in Vidlin were likely not to be reconnected before Monday.
The loss of running water is believed to have been caused by the recent thaw.
A Scottish Water spokesman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience as a result of this loss of supply. We want to thank local people for their patience and understanding.”
