News / “No right to stay”
A NORTH African man was remanded in custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday after being charged with two assaults and breaching the peace.
Eighteen year old Ana Nfaou is alleged to have punched two men, injuring one of them, and brandished a bottle while on bail at his home at 2a Holmsgarth Brae, Lerwick, on Saturday.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie opposed bail after Sheriff Philip Mann continued the case without plea until Thursday, saying Nfaou had no right to stay in the UK.
Appearing with Nfaou from custody was 18 year old Zoe Drysdale of no fixed abode, who was accused of racial aggravation by calling him “a fucking Paki” who should go back to his own country.
She has also been charged with a racially aggravated assault by throwing a bottle at him and scratching his neck.
The case against Drysdale was also continued without plea until Thursday and she was released on bail.
