Letters / A crack in Viking?
I wonder how many people are aware of the huge significance of the participation on the board of Viking Energy of a representative of the venture capital company, Noble Group (Viking Energy appoints new board; SN 12/12/12).
In the main, venture capitalists only join the boards of companies that they invest in when they see a potential problem with the project and their investment.
Their man on the ground will normally have the single minded remit to protect their employer’s investment and make sure that they get back at the very least what they have thus far invested.
Aside of any impending judicial review, this bit of seemingly insignificant news should delight Sustainable Shetland as it represents the first real crack in the viability of the mighty Viking Energy escapade.
