News / Teenager cut free from road crash
A TEENAGE girl is being kept in Lerwick’s Gilbert Bain Hospital after two vehicles were involved in a collision at the Brig o Fitch junction north of the town.
Two fire crews were called out from Lerwick to attend the crash, which happened at around 9pm on Sunday night.
Fire officers used cutting equipment to remove the roof of one of the vehicles to free the young woman, who was taken to hospital with what police described as serious injuries.
A hospital spokeswoman said she was in a stable condition, but was being kept in hospital for observation.
A man and a woman who were also involved in the collision were checked at the scene for injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.
The road into Lerwick from the north was closed for a time on Sunday night as a result of the accident.
