News / Five star hostel
LERWICK Youth Hostel, judged by users as the finest in the world, has comfortably retained its five star tourism status.
An inspector from tourism agency VistScotland said he was particularly impressed with the external condition of the building and grounds, and the cleanliness inside – both of which scored an unbeatable 100 per cent.
Hostel team leader Dale Smith said: “This is great news and confirms the high standards we consistently seek to maintain and deliver.
“A huge congratulations goes to all staff for the excellent level of service they provide, which – all wrapped up in a beautiful building – also saw us become best hostel in the world last year.
Meanwhile VisitScotland and the Shetland Times, who produce the Shetland Visitor, have joined forces to create a single holiday brochure for the isles.
