News / School art show

ARTWORK by Shetland pupils is to be showcased at the Shetland Museum and Archives from this weekend.

Art and design teachers have brought together work from nursery to secondary departments across the isles for a second exhibition revealing a rich diversity of creative work.

The display ranges from traditional drawing and painting of portraits and landscapes to outstanding examples of body adornments made from the simplest of materials.

Director of children’s services Helen Budge said she was really excited by the work on show at the museum.

“It shows the extraordinary breadth of talent and imagination our pupils have,” she said.

A museum spokeswoman said the first schools’ exhibition in 2009 broke previous visitor records.

The exhibition in Da Gadderie showroom opens on Saturday and runs to 6 January 2013.
