News / Lerwick dental nurse on trial
A DENTAL nurse from Shetland is facing allegations that she overcharged patients and pocketed the extra cash.
Melanie Tracey Inkster is scheduled to appear before the General Dental Council’s professional conduct committee at Smithfield, London, between Tuesday and Friday this week.
Inkster is accused of overcharging patients and retaining the cash for her own use while working at the private St Olaf Street practice, in Lerwick, during 2010 and 2011.
Amongst the charges, she is accused in one instance of falsely recording a patient had paid £85 for a treatment that she had charged them £95 for, and keeping the balance of £10.
The hearing will also hear of other cases where she allegedly overcharged patients for her own benefit between August 2010 and August 2011 and that her fitness to practice as a registered dental nurse has been impaired as a result.
