News / NorthLink disruption
STRONG winds and high seas are causing disruption to Friday’s freight and passenger sailings between Shetland and Aberdeen, ferry operators Serco NorthLink have warned.
The 6pm sailing of the freight vessel Helliar from Lerwick has been cancelled due to forecast gale force easterly and south easterly winds.
The five to seven metre swell around Fair Isle has put paid to plans for the freighter Hildasay to reach Lerwick after leaving Aberdeen in the evening, meaning it will ravel no fjurther than Kirkwall.
Meanwhile the Hjaltland passenger ferry may be delayed leaving Aberdeen beyond 7pm due to low water and the building south easterly swell.
And the Hrossey, which leaves Lerwick at 5.30pm, may be delayed arriving in Kirkwall and Aberdeen due to the sea conditions.
