Letters / Plenty opportunities to object
Like other councillors, I have received so many letters about the proposed school closures that it is impossible to reply to them all (even if I was not about to go on my annual family holiday).
I would like to thank all correspondents for writing and to assure them that the council will consider carefully all the points made, during the statutory consultation that the education committee is now carrying out under its delegated powers.
After the consultation the committee will make a recommendation to the full council, which alone can approve a school closure proposal. Any closure can then be “called in” by the education minister, so there are several opportunities for objectors to make their views known.
