News / Jail for sex act
A CHINESE restaurant worker has been sent to jail for six months after pleading guilty to “intentionally” causing a 15 year old girl to participate in a sexual act.
Appearing for sentencing before Lerwick Sheriff Court, Ching Shiong Heng, of 10 St Magnus Street, Lerwick, was also put on the sex offenders register for seven years.
The 30 year old may now also face deportation back to China.
The offence took place at Heng’s address where the girl was staying overnight on 5 November.
Sheriff Philip Mann said that he took such matters “very seriously”.
He told Heng that as a man twice his victim’s age, he should have taken steps to ensure “nothing of this nature could have happened”, instead of allowing the situation to develop.
