A YOUNG Shetland man has been remanded in custody for two weeks after pleading not guilty to a string of violent assaults and breaching the peace earlier this year.
Nineteen year old Trevor Couper, whose address was given as Polmont young offender’s institution, was arrested earlier this month and made no plea to four charges of assault between 10 March and 20 May.
Reappearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Tuesday, Couper denied the assaults along with two counts of behaving in a threatening manner. However he pled guilty to breaching his bail conditions by being drunk in public.
Those two assaults are alleged to have happened at Sandside on 20 May, in which the victims were injured.
Couper also is also alleged on 10 March to have caused injury during two assaults at Lerwick’s Garthspool, caused alarm and struck a door in the town’s Ladies Drive and threatened a police officer with violence in at the local police station.
