News / Road crash update
THE FIFTY year old man seriously injured in a road crash in Shetland on Thursday is now in intensive care in the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where his condition is described as “critical”.
A spokeswoman for Northern Constabulary said the man had been transferred to Aberdeen by air ambulance on Friday morning.
The man was cut free from his vehicle by fire crews from Lerwick and Scalloway on Thursday morning following the accident just north of the Brig o Fitch, on the A970 north of Lerwick.
The road was closed for three hours while police carried out an investigation, with traffic diverted through the Tingwall valley.
