News / Injured crewman
A CREWMAN from the brand new anchor handling vessel Brage Viking was airlifted by Shetland coastguard to hospital in Lerwick on Saturday morning.
A coastguard spokesman said a call came in on Friday night that the man had injured his ankle, however the decision to evacuate him was not taken until first thing on Saturday when his condition deteriorated.
The coastguard helicopter left Sumburgh at 7.40am and landed the patient at Clickimin shortly after 10am having picked the man up 120 nautical miles north east of Sumburgh where the vessel was working in the Eider and Thistle fields.
