News / Jamieson jailed for assault and threat
A SHETLAND man was jailed for almost six months at Lerwick Sheriff Court after he admitted assaulting a woman and threatening to kill another last month.
Calum Jamieson, of 101 St Olaf Street, Lerwick, appeared from custody on Wednesday after being remanded in custody last week.
The 29 year old had admitted pushing a woman to the ground on Lerwick’s Esplanade and spitting in her face on 14 July.
Having been placed on bail for that offence, Jamieson was arrested again on 31 July for a breach of the peace at Lerwick’s Thule Bar.
This time he admitted shouting and swearing at another woman, threatening to kill her and clearing his throat to spit in her face.
The case had been adjourned last week to allow the court to view CCTV footage of the incident, after Jamieson claimed he had been provoked.
However on Wednesday Sheriff Philip Mann did not accept there were any mitigating circumstances and jailed Jamieson for 23 weeks, including three weeks for committing the second offence while on bail.
