SHETLAND Arts has revealed a star-studded lineup for their annual Screenplay festival.

Actress Miranda Richardson, director Bill Forsyth and documentary director Alexandre O. Phillipe will attend the sixth Shetland festival in late August.

Events will include screenings, talks with Richardson and Forsyth, music and enlightening documentaries.

The festival’s theme this year is It’s Dark Up North, a tribute to some of the more morbid filmmakers of Scandinavia. Films will include André Øvredal’s Trollhunter, Ingmar Bergman’s classic The Seventh Seal and Lars von Trier’s Melancholia, alongside many more.

Premiering in the isles will also be the new Ice Age film – Continental Drift – for younger audiences, as well as The Itch of the Golden Nit and a Wallace and Gromit favourite A Matter of Loaf and Death.

The festival runs from 31 August to 9 September. Tickets and full programmes will be available closer to the time.
