News / Tanker disrupts broadband
A TANKER in Lerwick harbour appears to be the source of recent disruptions to BT’s broadband services.
It is believed the tanker had used satellite equipment whilst it was docked on Wednesday, which had some repercussions on the islands’ communications.
A BT spokesman said: “The subsequent interference resulted in a degraded broadband service on the radio links between Bressay and Scousburgh.
“The tanker sailed last night and the links have been fully functioning since early this morning.”
The incident has been reported to Ofcom.
