VETERAN cyclist Carlos Riise showed his strength by winning a 50 mile time trial at Fourdon in Aberdeenshire on a cold and windy Sunday morning.

The 47 year old Shetland Wheelers star was neck and neck with second place Steve Nutley of Sandy Wallace Cycles until the final 12 miles stretch where he managed to open up a two minute lead to take the title.
