Letters / Ignore turbine poll
I really must take issue with this meaningless poll (Turbines don’t put off tourists, SN 25 April 2012).
If someone said to me your neighbour has sold a piece of his croft for a single story house no one would object. However, if that building were to be three times bigger in every direction than anything roundabout I am sure, planning notwithstanding, that all neighbours would be up in arms.
Viking are proposing something which is three times bigger than anything of its kind that has ever been built in Shetland.
It just goes to show that wording is everything in polls/referenda. This turbine poll is totally meaningless in the Shetland context and should be completely ignored by any common sense thinking person.
Kind regards,
