Politics / Smith returns

SNP MEP Alyn Smith returns to Shetland next week to give his party’s two candidates in the local government election a boost.

Commenting ahead of the visit, he said: “It was great to visit the islands at the start of the month and I’m relishing the opportunity to come back and support our two great Shetland SNP candidates Iain Morrison and Danus Skene next week, building on the momentum their campaign has been gaining for the past month.

“Having seen them in action I know they will be fantastic local representatives for the people of Lerwick South and Lerwick North and care a great deal about their communities.

“From fuel prices to ferries, it is clear that they understand the local community and are very passionate about how to make Shetland better. That passion has been met with an enthusiastic response on the streets.

“Shetland SNP is the only campaign to release a manifesto ahead of the elections to allow constituents to properly hold to account their councillors for their work in the council chambers.”
