Letters / I hear you Iain!
Iain Malcolmson is absolutely right to want more engagement from Nesting’s elected representatives (Wake up, north candidates; SN 20/4/12).
The proposed wind farm is of course a major issue for the area and he correctly says that we will need strong representation in this forthcoming council.
I have always believed that we need a wind farm in Shetland, but that both the proposed design and location are wrong. Indeed, following the public meeting in Brae, I wrote to our councillors stating the view that approving the design was contrary to the views of their constituents. I did not receive a single reply!
With regard to prospective candidates being aware of Nesting – I am trying my best to visit as many places as possible in the Shetland North ward – I plan to be in the Nesting area on Tuesday and hope to speak to as many folk as possible about the full range of issues, from community care to community skips!
If Iain would prefer to contact me to discuss any issue, my details are on the election page.
Jim Reyner
Shetland North candidate
