Letters / Time to accept the wind farm has not come yet
Chris Bunyan must be a little concerned to write so much. (Wind farm supporters issue plea to work together and Putting the past behind us, both SN, 18 April 2012)
Firstly, before Viking Energy can proceed, we may have a judicial review, and then perhaps a formal public enquiry.
That will probably finish VE for good, if not; any potential investor in VE must understand that every resident within two kilometres of a turbine may well take legal action on many grounds: loss of value of property, health damage, noise nuisance etc.
I know a man who has a £10 million fighting fund against wind farms, so watch out VE, this could cost a great deal. We could also have an appeal process to The Supreme Court or the European Court of Human Rights, if health issues are still being ignored by Viking Energy.
Also there is the small matter of ROCs (Renewable Obligation Certificates) being cut again, and the reluctance of Scottish & Southern Energy to invest due to uncertainty of the position in the independence issue.
To quote Chris: “There has come a time when we accept the wind farm is going to happen.”
That time has not come, not yet, not by a long way.
