1955 Austin Healey

A CENTURY of motoring history will be on display at the 15th Shetland Classic Motor Show in June, with some of the finest historic vehicles ever to come to these islands.

The country’s most prestigious car clubs have adopted the Shetland bi-annual event, and as result the range of vehicles will include Alvis (3), Austin Healey (6), Bentley (11), Jaguar (5), Lagonda (7), Morgan (2), Rolls Royce (2) and Triumph (6).

Out of the 300 motorcars and motorcycles, the oldest will be a 1913 Buick boasting 40 horsepower.

The event, sponsored by NorthLink Ferries, takes place on 2 and 3 June at Lerwick’s Clickimin Leisure Complex, around which there will be guided local tours for the vehicles, a coach tour of Yell and Unst and a Classic Foy of local music and dancing.

Joint organiser Maurice Mullay said: “The diversity and outstanding quality of vehicles is quite amazing. This is a must-see event; add it to your diary now.”
