News / Detection rate up
NORTHERN Constabulary says its detection rate for the first 11 months of the current financial year is already the highest ever achieved by the force and one of the highest in the UK.
The detection rate of 67.3 per cent until the end of February could rise even further by the end of this month.
In the north division, which includes Shetland, detection rates were up 5.28 per cent to 68.68 per cent.
The force said there fewer crimes and fewer road casualties, but it was particularly proud of its 100 per cent detection rate for drug possession and supply.
The detection rate for murder is 100 per cent, attempted murder is 100 per cent and serious assault is 94.88 per cent.
Chief Constable George Graham said: “We are in the midst of reform at this time and during these challenging times for the Force, it is a credit to the hard work and dedication of police officers and police staff that they have delivered such excellent results.”
