News / Addict under curfew for assaulting woman
A LERWICK drug addict who injured a woman by dragging her down the stairs by her legs has been placed on a night time curfew in Mossbank for the next month.
On Friday 26 year old Matthew Smith pled guilty to assault to injury at his home at 13 Grodians the previous day. He also admitted abusive or threatening behaviour by swearing, kicking a door and banging on a window with a length of wood.
Sheriff Philip Mann deferred sentence until 18 April for reports, but has bailed him to an address in Leaside, Mossbank, where he must stay indoors between 7pm and 7am until his next court appearance.
He has also been told he must not approach or contact the woman he assaulted and answer his door to police officers at any time.
In a separate case 21 year old Liam Polden, of 18 Maidenfield, Mossbank, pled guilty to assaulting a man on the public footpath between the local nursery and Leaside by striking him on the head.
Sentence was deferred for six months until 19 September for him to be of good behaviour.
