Letters / Caring for human beings not the balance sheet
The threat to close the Freefield Centre is typical of the political establishment on both sides of the pond. It seem that the pols think that only the balance sheets have to be satisfied and d**n the people.
Here in New York, where I have been delivering meals for quite a time, the same sort of thinking abounds. I see the difficulty with my own eyes and it is quite sad.
One can almost hear Mr Scrooge asking ‘Are there no prisons? Are there no work houses?’ Perhaps it’s time for people to respond with a heads up on what it means to be a caring human being, instead of caring for account book.
Let them know it’s their last term if they squash those least able to make it through.
