News / Drivers fined
POLICE in Shetland have fined ten drivers for breaking the 20 mph speed limit outside island schools.
Checks were being carried out on Wednesday outside schools in Sandwick and at Sound, in Lerwick, following complaints from concerned residents.
A spokesman said: “One of Northern Constabulary’s strategic priorities is to promote road safety in order to minimise casualties, and as such further speed checks will be carried out at various locations in Shetland in the coming days in an effort to slow drivers down outside schools.”
