News / Hjaltland appoints Bryan
HJALTLAND Housing Association has appointed its property services manager Bryan Leask as new chief executive.
Thirty five year old Mr Leask, from Lerwick will take over from Robin Sandison who retires at the end of March 2012.
A graduate of Robert Gordon University, Mr Leask has managed the association’s development programme since 2002. During that period Hjaltland’s housing stock has more than doubled to just over 600.
Mr Leask he is currently chairman of Shetland Renewable Energy Forum and a trustee of Shetland Recreational Trust.
Hjaltland chairman Jeff Goddard said: “It is particularly pleasing that following a thorough interview process that attracted applicants, including a number from outwith Shetland, we have appointed a candidate from within the association.
“This highlights both the success of our employee development programme and the fact that there are good career opportunities in Shetland for returning graduates.”
The housing association is currently on site with 16 new build units at Tingwall and Lerwick, with further 47 approved by the Scottish government innovation & invest fund, and due to start shortly.
