News / New chief librarian
KAREN Fraser has been appointed new executive manager for the Shetland library.
Ms Fraser joined the council in 2001 as a library assistant, and became acting executive manager for the library in October this year, following the retirement of Silvija Crook. She now takes on the role permanently after a successful recruitment exercise.
She said: “I know the library is very deeply valued by the people of Shetland, so this is a big responsibility in these very challenging times. We have an excellent staff team which has already proved adaptable to change, so I am optimistic for the future.”
