News / Scalloway Hotel shortlisted

SCALLOWAY Hotel is one of only three hotels in the running for the Best Dining Out Experience in the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards 2011.

Owners Peter and Caroline McKenzie took over the hotel in Scalloway’s Main Street in April 2008.

Mr McKenzie said: “It’s great to have made it onto the shortlist.  We’re working hard at building up a reputation for good food, and to win this level of recognition is a  huge boost for both us and our staff.

“We’re up against some stiff competition though with the Kylesku Hotel and Loch Ness Country House Hotel also in the running.”

He added: “We’re extremely lucky to have so much fantastic local produce on our doorstep.   The quality and freshness of the fish, shellfish and lamb we get from our local suppliers is exceptional.”

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Inverness on Friday.
