News / Health & safety forum
A FORUM to discuss health and safety in agriculture is being set up after the National Farmers Union of Scotland gave evidence to the House of Commons Scottish Affairs Committee this week.
The NFUS has warned plans to charge farmers and crofters if they are targeted by the Health and Safety Executive will drive a wedge between the industry and the regulators.
NFUS President Nigel Miller said: “This could also reduce an already slow trickle of accident reporting, which is a crucial indicator of the main risk areas on farms.”
Mr Miller said the forum involving the NFUS and the HSE would be a “positive outcome” of the session.
