News / Assault and disturbances

A NINETEEN year old man was taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital as a precaution following an assault in the Grodians area in Lerwick in the early hours of Sunday. A 17 year old teenager was arrested and charged with the offence.

Meanwhile a 31 year old man was arrested following a disturbance at an address at Ladies Drive on the early hours of Sunday, and a 25 year old man was arrested as a result of a disturbance outside a pub in Lerwick early on Saturday.

Police said that enquiries were still ongoing and that it was likely that others would also be reported to the procurator fiscal. 

Police also reported that they had arrested a number of youngsters after local buses had been damaged and vital safety equipment been taken. A report is to be submitted to the children’s reporter.
