RESIDENTS in the Sound area of Lerwick are getting a say in how £12,500 of public money should be spent in their community.
A drop in session is being held at the Baila Room of Sound public hall on 19 November from 3pm to 8pm to find out more, complete a questionnaire and discuss any ideas for improving life in the area.
“Sound Choices” follows a similar project in North Staney Hill called “Wir Community, Wir Choice”, which received £40,000 of public funds which were distributed following a public vote.
The cash was spent on providing equipment for the local hall, a landscaping project and other ideas and activities.
Newsletters will be delivered to every household in the coming week, followed in early November by a household questionnaire. Sound primary school and the council’s youth service are also joining in.
