News / Over 100 locals to join movie cast

MORE than one hundred islanders have now been selected to act in the forthcoming movie Between Weathers, to be filmed in Shetland at the end of this year and early in 2012.

Following several casting sessions in Lerwick and on the island of Fetlar, director Jim Brown and his team have announced the full contingent of Shetland actors and background artists for the movie on www.betweenweathers.com.

Between Weathers is expected to attract some major Hollywood names for the lead roles.

Local actors James Mackenzie, Ria Moncrieff and Dugald Gunn had already won roles in the movie following auditions last year. They will now be joined by Donna-Marie Leask, Morag Mouat, Lynsey Rendall and Ewen Balfour.

Of the other 100 or so local actors, another 12 will soon be selected for minor speaking parts.

The names are:

Mr Brown said: “My casting sessions in Shetland were fantastic, I had the best time and again met some wonderful people, many of whom I have cast in Between
Weathers.

“Although most of my new friends will be extras and background artists, twelve will have speaking parts. The lucky dozen will be named very soon.”
