News / New police chief
CHIEF inspector Angus MacInnes has been named as the new area commander for Shetland, taking over from David Bushell who moves to a post in Fort William next month.
Inverness-born Mr MacInnes previously served for six months as an inspector in the islands around two years ago. He is currently based in Caithness.
He grew up in Canada but returned to Scotland to study at Aberdeen University, before joining Northern Constabulary in 1995.
He has served in various stations throughout the region and was a public order adviser during the 2007 G8 summit, as well as being part of a mountain rescue team.
Inspector Eddie Graham will serve as acting chief inspector until Mr MacInnes starts his new job.
