News / “Low risk” knife man re-arrested and held
A MAN who escaped a jail sentence last week for threatening to rape and kill a woman at knifepoint has been remanded in custody after being arrested at a house in Lerwick over the weekend for threatening and abusive behaviour.
Daniel Moore, aged 41, of 24 Hoofields, made no plea or declaration when he appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon charged with breaching the peace on Sunday.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
Last Wednesday Moore was placed under supervision for 18 months and ordered to carry out 140 hours community service after terrorising a woman with a knife for three and a half hours while he was drunk.
At court last week he was described as a low risk of reoffending after social work and psychiatric reports were carried out.
After reading the reports, Sheriff Graeme Napier had said: “I am reasonably reassured he is not a genuine danger to the public.”
