News / Man charged with drunken sailing
A LERWICK man has been charged with being drunk in charge of a pleasure boat in the town’s harbour in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Kevin Johnson, aged 23, of 54 Breiwick Road, appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court where he was charged with being more than twice the legal limit for alcohol.
He was also charged with recklessness and endangering other maritime traffic by extinguishing his own navigation lights in an attempt to evade the police while under the influence of alcohol.
Johnson made no plea and the case was continued until 27 July.
