News / Four local pubs shortlisted

FILM director Jim Brown has announced the four Shetland pubs shortlisted to star in the forthcoming movie Between Weathers, to be shot in the isles next year.

The Aberdeen based film maker will visit the Lounge, in Lerwick, the Pierhead, in Voe, Spiggie Hotel, in Dunrossness, and the Mid Brae Inn, in Brae, next week to pick the winner.

Almost all pubs in Shetland had been nominated in the hope to become similarly famous that the Pennan Inn, which played a centre role in the classic Local Hero.

All four pubs are located on Shetland mainland, while most of the movie is expected to be shot on the island of Fetlar.

Between Weathers has been described a modern-day David and Goliath story, and will feature the attempts of a dwindling island population turning around their fortunes by using the power of the internet.
