POLICE in Shetland have named the fisherman who died on Saturday afternoon, when he fell overboard from the creel boat Flying Cloud.
Sixty one year old Alan Arthur, from Whalsay, was one of a crew of three on the 26ft boat when the accident happened off Burravoe, on the island of Yell.
Having been recovered from the water by his crewmen, Mr Arthur was taken by helicopter to the Gilbert Bain Hospital, in Lerwick, where he sadly died.
A spokesman said: “Shetland Police would like to thank all those services, and the staff at Gilbert Bain Hospital, who assisted in this matter and pass on their condolences to the family of Mr Arthur.”
A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
