Swinney may swan north
ON Tuesday Scottish finance secretary John Swinney began his tour of the country to hear views about the government’s finance strategy starting in Livingston, West Lothian.
Shetland is not on he secretary’s agenda, but a government spokesman said Mr Swinney may still come north later this month to discuss a range of issues.
If he does come to Shetland it will not be as part of his current tour where he will meet business, community and voluntary groups to discuss how Scotland should meet its spending challenges.
The Scottish government’s budget is to shrink by £3.7 billion over the next four years due to Westminster cuts, he said.
