Skipper airlifted to hospital
THE skipper of the Fraserburgh whitefish trawler Karen Ann was airlifted to hospital in Lerwick on Sunday afternoon after he collapsed on board his vessel, 90 miles east of South Ronaldsay, in Orkney.
The coastguard’s search and rescue 102 helicopter, based at Sumburgh, was at the scene at around 1pm and evacuated the man to the Clickimin landing site at 1.45, from where he was taken by ambulance to the Gilbert Bain Hospital.
Relief lifeboat arrives in Aith
IT WAS all change at Aith’s lifeboat station this weekend with the arrival of the relief lifeboat Duke of Kent which arrived from Thurso.
This lifeboat will stay on station for around three months while Aith’s lifeboat Charles Lidbury undergoes its refit at Buckie.
The Aith lifeboat left the village early Saturday morning manned by a volunteer crew from Aith station bound for Kirkwall on its first stage of its journey to Buckie.
Meanwhile, Aith lifeboat station received an £800 donation from the Brae men’s night dinner dance, held the previous Saturday.
